This document describes how an administrator can safely delete a Virtual Cabinet user, including checking for portal publishing rights first, and how to restore the user if the deletion was done in error.
Step 1: Open the Admin Tab and View Users
As an administrator, select the Admin tab to open the administration section.
In Users and Groups, select Users to display the list of all users who currently hold a Virtual Cabinet licence.
Step 2: Check Whether the User Is a Portal Publisher
Before deleting the user, confirm whether they are a portal publisher, because deleting a Virtual Cabinet user does not automatically remove their portal publisher licence.
If you use the Virtual Cabinet Portal, go to the Portal section and select Publishers.
In the Publishers list, review who holds a portal publishing licence. A tick indicates the user is enabled for portal publishing; no tick indicates they are not.
Locate the user in the list. If they are unticked, they are not a portal publisher and it is safe to proceed with deleting the Virtual Cabinet user account. Close the Publishers window.
Step 3: Delete the User Account
Return to Users and find the relevant user in the list. Select the user and then choose Delete to remove their user profile from Virtual Cabinet.
Step 4: Restore a Deleted User If Required
If the user was deleted by mistake, or needs to be reinstated (for example, they return to the business), you can restore their account.
Reopen Users, then tick Show All at the bottom of the window to display both active and inactive (deleted) users.
Find the deleted user in the list and select Restore to reinstate the account to the active users list.
