Create a New User

Summary:

This article describes how to Create a New User

More Information:

The user creating the new user MUST BE AN ADMINISTRATOR, and the Company must have enough free licences to be able to add a new user. Be aware of what kind of user the new user will be; for this guide we will be duplicating an already existing user.

From the Admin tab

  1. select users and groups.

  2. select Add users from Active Directory.

    a. if you see the following screen with a list of users carry on, if not go to step 3.

WHEN ADDING USERS THROUGH ACTIVE DIRECTORY, THE NAME OF THE USER WILL BE THE ACTIVE DIRECTORY NAME WITHOUT THE DOMAIN, THERE IS NO WAY TO AMEND THIS I.E BILLY.CAMP IN OUR EXAMPLE. IF YOU WISH TO HAVE A SPECIFIC USERNAME FORMAT DIFFERENT TO THE ACTIVE DIRECTORY FORMAT YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE THE USER AS PER STEP 3.

    d. Now we need to select a user to copy; this simplifies the process, as it will copy the permissions, access settings etc… e.g. if we copy a user that has admin rights, the new user will have admin rights; if we copy a user that normally deals with scanning groups, it will copy the necessary permissions to do the scanning rights.

    e. After you have selected the new user, and a user to copy. You are good to go, you will get a notification saying that a new user has been created.
  3. a. If you do not have a domain OR are wanting to specify a username in a certain format, you will need to add a user manually, please start by going to the admin tab, and selecting view users, from there you will need to select a user to be copied. this simplifies the process, as it will only copy the permissions, access settings etc… e.g. if we copy a user that has admin rights, the new user will have admin rights; if we copy a user that normally deals with scanning groups, it will copy the necessary permissions to do the scanning rights.

    c. You will need to fill in the user name, the First Name and the Last Name AND SETUP A PASSWORD. All other settings will be populated to match the user you copied.

Usernames cannot be changed once setup, make sure the username you enter is correct and matches any specific format your company uses.
