Welcome to the Virtual Cabinet Hosted/Cloud scanning article
This article has been created to supplement the Virtual Cabinet Welcome Pack. It contains information relating to scanning setups when Virtual Cabinet is implemented in a Hosted/Cloud environment. It is intended for audiences who are about to implement Virtual Cabinet in the cloud. This article does not exhaust all of the methods of scanning to a cloud hosted Virtual Cabinet.
It is recommended that the Post Process video/articles are reviewed before considering your scanning options. Please refer to the Post Process section of your Welcome Pack.
Ok so you have ordered Virtual Cabinet, and the chances are that you have purchased one or more scanners from us with your system. Otherwise we will assume you have your own compatible devices or the use of a Multifunctional Device (MFD).
Below are some common scenarios when scanning to VC in the cloud:
Scanning directly into Virtual Cabinet
Scanner Each
This scenario is where desktop scanners are attached to users PC’s that need to scan. These users will then use the Virtual Cabinet application to scan into VC.
Scan Station
This scenario is where a desktop scanner is attached to a spare pc to act as a scan station. All users can then login to the PC and scan via the Virtual Cabinet application.
What needs to be done to your cloud environment to facilitate this?
One of the following configurations will facilitate these scenarios:
- Use 3rd Party cloud scanning plugin (Best Practice).
o Your hosted provider can provide you with a 3rd party tool that allows your scanner to be seen on the cloud. Examples of these applications are TS Scan and Citrix Twain forwarding. Please note that TS Scan comes with a cost from your hosted provider.
- Port 8559 is opened on your cloud server and local firewall to allow us to install Virtual Cabinet on the machine with the scanner. Virtual Cabinet will then communicate with the cloud sever on port
