What is Virtual Cabinet?

Virtual Cabinet is a document management system designed to help businesses store, find and manage their documents efficiently. It is primarily used by finance and insolvency firms but is also used across construction, childcare, talent agencies and other industries.

Key features include: shared document storage areas called Cabinets, individual and group Intrays for managing incoming documents, automatic email capture, full-text content searching across stored files, and secure document sharing with clients via the Portal, including the ability to request signatures.

Virtual Cabinet is not cloud-based. It is hosted on a Windows server, either managed by your IT team, a third-party host, or in rare cases on a local machine for very small sites.

The system has four core components: a SQL database (stores all indexing data and user accounts), services (background processes managing different system functions), a filestore (stores the raw document files), and the client application (installed on user machines, this is how everyone interacts with the system).
