The Microsoft Office Addin

The Office Addin integrates Virtual Cabinet into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, letting you access key features without leaving your Office application.

Installing the Addin

  1. Click the Settings cog in the top-left of Virtual Cabinet.
  2. Go to Microsoft Office Addin and click Install Office Addin.
  3. The next time you open a Microsoft Office application, you will be prompted to complete the installation.
  4. Confirm the Addin originates from CabiBond.Net and click Install.

Once installed, a Virtual Cabinet tab will appear in the ribbon of each Office application.

Using the Addin in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

From the Virtual Cabinet tab you can: search for and open documents from Virtual Cabinet, send the current document to your Intray or another user's Intray, index (file) the current document directly into a Cabinet, and insert links to documents stored in Virtual Cabinet.

If you see a message that Virtual Cabinet hyperlinks are not trusted by Microsoft Office, go to the Options button in the Virtual Cabinet tab and click Install to resolve this.

Using the Addin in Outlook

Outlook has additional features beyond the other Office applications. From any email you can: send the email to your Intray, send it to another user's or group Intray, index it directly into a Cabinet, or handle attachments separately by sending them to an Intray or indexing them directly.

When composing an email you can attach documents stored in Virtual Cabinet, or scan a new document and attach it directly.

The Email Indexing Pane can be enabled via the Outlook Addin Options (General tab, tick Show Indexing Pane). This embeds the Virtual Cabinet indexing screen into every open email, making it much faster to file emails as you read them.

Outlook Addin Options also let you: automatically delete emails from Outlook after filing them to Virtual Cabinet, prompt to save sent emails into Virtual Cabinet, and configure which mailbox folders are synchronised.
