Packs allow related documents to be grouped together for easy access and management. They can contain documents from intrays or cabinets, be created and maintained from the Intray or Search tabs, and a single document can belong to multiple packs. This process explains how to create packs, add and remove documents, open packs, start tasks, publish packs to a portal, and use favourites for quick access.
Step 1: Access the Packs panel
Open the document or search results you are working with and go to the Packs panel. Here you can see your favourited packs and any packs related to your current search results.
Step 2: Create a new pack from the Packs panel
In the Packs panel, choose the option to add a new pack.
Enter a clear, descriptive name for the pack and confirm to create it. The pack is now available and ready for documents to be added.
Step 3: Create a new pack from the toolbar
Alternatively, you can create a new pack using the toolbar at the top of the screen.
Select the New Pack option from the toolbar. Provide a name for the pack and confirm to create it.
Step 4: Create a new pack from a right-click menu
You can also create a pack directly from a selection of documents. Highlight the relevant documents in your intray or search results, right-click on the selection, and choose Add New Pack. Give the pack a name and confirm to create it.
Step 5: Add documents to an existing pack
To add documents to the pack you have just created (or any existing pack), select the documents in your intray or search results and drag and drop them onto the desired pack in the Packs panel. Alternatively, select the documents, select the target pack, then right-click on the selected documents and choose the option to add the document(s) to that pack.
Step 6: Open and view a pack
To open a pack, locate it in the Packs panel list, then double-click the pack name.
A search will run automatically, displaying all documents currently in that pack. To return to your original search results, use the option provided at the top of the results area and click it to revert to your previous search.
Step 7: Remove documents from a pack
To remove one or more documents from a pack, first run the pack so that its documents are displayed. Select the document(s) you wish to remove and choose the option to move or remove the selected document from the pack.
Then select the relevant pack and confirm by choosing Remove Selected Document. The results list will update to show that the document has been removed from the pack.
Step 8: Start a task from a pack
You can initiate a task directly from a pack. In the Packs panel, right-click on the desired pack and choose Start Task to begin a new task based on the contents of that pack.
Step 9: Publish a pack to the portal
If portal publishing is available in your system, you can publish a pack to the portal. Right-click on the pack you wish to publish and select Portal Publishing. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the publishing process.
Step 10: Favourite packs for consistent visibility
To ensure that a pack is always visible regardless of which documents or clients you are searching, mark it as a favourite. Click the star icon next to the pack name so that it becomes a favourited pack. Favourited packs are always shown, while non-favourited packs only appear when you are viewing or searching for documents that are contained within them.
Step 11: Use the paperclip icon to jump to a pack
When viewing documents, you may see a small paperclip icon indicating that the document is part of one or more packs. Click the paperclip icon to navigate directly to the associated pack and view its contents.
