This article explains how to switch between scan profiles in Virtual Cabinet and what to do if your scanner isn't connecting correctly. Scan profiles control settings such as file type, colour, and destination, and each one is linked to a scanner connection.
Selecting a Different Scan Profile
Selecting a Different Scan Profile
- Open the Scan tab in the Virtual Cabinet client.
- In the left side pane, click the Scanner Setting dropdown.
- Select the profile you want to use from the list of profiles you have access to.
- Confirm your destination (Intray or Filing Cabinet) and click Scan.
If the Scanner Isn't Connecting
Updating the Scanner Connection on a Profile (Administrators Only) - This section requires admin access to the Admin tab in Virtual Cabinet.
Scan profiles store the name of the scanner device they connect to. If a scanner's TWAIN driver has been reinstalled or updated, it may register under a slightly different name — for example, a driver previously listed as "Canon DR-X10C #1" might reappear as "Canon DR-X10C #2" after reinstallation. In this case, the existing scan profile will need to be updated to reference the new driver name.
- Go to the Admin tab.
- Under Scan Settings, click Scan Settings.
- Select the affected scan profile from the list.
- Click Edit in the ribbon.
- Locate the scanner/device name field and update it to match the new driver name (e.g. change
Canon DR-X10C #1toCanon DR-X10C #2). - Save and close.
- Ask the affected user to close and reopen Virtual Cabinet and test the scan.
Note: If you're unsure what the scanner is now listed as, check the available devices via Windows — go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers (or Scanners & Cameras) to see how the TWAIN driver is currently registered.
If the Problem Persists
- Confirm the scanner is powered on and physically connected to the machine.
- Try closing and reopening Virtual Cabinet before scanning.
- If the driver name is unclear or the profile still won't connect after updating, contact your support engineer.
